A Community Rooted in Faith
When the Brennemans decided to found Stuarts Draft Retirement Community, they knew from the beginning that it would be a place to cultivate and nurture faith in their residents. Their Christian beliefs were behind every decision as they designed the community, hired staff, and noted policies and visions. And while residents come to SDRC and now The Village at Mint Spring with all manner of backgrounds and beliefs, it is always the hope that they will experience the peace and love of God as they participate in the community and live their lives among good friends.
“Each person is created in the image of God.” Executive Director David Brenneman explains, “The way we serve and love individuals reflects how God loves us.” This deep-seated belief is how his new community, The Village at Mint Spring is fueled…valuing the dignity and uniqueness of every resident who will walk through the threshold of their own Village of Mint Spring home, as well as honoring that of each friend or family member who will visit. In the end, serving others and loving them well is what providing this kind of community is all about.
The long-term vision for The Village at Mint Spring involves expansion in a physical and influential sense. The next 7-10 years will see a massive build-out of the property. “This will allow us the opportunity to become more of an influence at large.” David explains, “We want to be a resource for seniors at The Village at Mint Spring but also those outside of it. We want to provide information, products, services, education, and support. We want to be a powerhouse for the rights and protection of seniors.”
Currently, these goals are being met by free monthly seminars for local seniors at The Village at Mint Spring. A variety of guests speak on a host of topics ranging from the how-tos and tips and tricks of downsizing to protectng yourself from scams and online financial predators. It’s all about empowerment and support….whether or not you choose a home at The Village at Mint Spring.
